Senior Tax Advisor

About the Role

We are looking for a seasoned, client-focused Senior Tax Advisor to join our team. In this role, you will serve as a trusted advisor to individuals and small business owners — guiding them through tax filing, year-round tax planning, and the development of personalized strategies that maximize tax efficiency. You will own a portfolio of clients, drive new client conversion, and play an active role in expanding our full-service offerings, including tax planning, life insurance, and real estate investment strategies.

Key Responsibilities

Tax Delivery & Compliance

  • Manage the timely delivery of tax services for individuals and small businesses, ensuring accuracy and full compliance with current tax laws and regulations.

  • Bring strong individual tax experience — with a preferred focus on real estate investor taxation — and the ability to review and mentor junior staff. Proficiency in Form 1040, 1120S, and 1065 is required.

Tax Planning & Strategies

  • Analyze client financial data to identify tax-saving opportunities, including deductions, credits, retirement contributions, business structuring, and other efficiency levers to deliver customized tax solutions

  • Develop and present forward-looking tax strategies tailored to each client's financial situation, goals, and business structure.

Client Relationship Management

  • Implement a systematic approach to client touchpoints, ensuring meaningful, personalized interactions at every stage of the client lifecycle.

  • Develop and execute retention strategies to deepen client relationships and improve satisfaction.

  • Proactively identify opportunities to expand services offered to existing clients, including tax planning, financial planning, life insurance, and real estate advisory.

  • Engage new leads, assess their tax and financial needs, and guide them through a seamless onboarding experience into full-service engagements.

Life Insurance & Real Estate Case Management

  • Collaborate with internal partners on the conversion and onboarding process for life insurance and real estate investment cases, ensuring smooth client transitions and successful closures.

  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of life insurance and real estate products as tax-efficient strategies, with intent of obtaining Real Estate & Life insurance licenses

  • Proactively follow up with clients to ensure timely progression and resolution of open cases.

Qualifications

Required

  • 5+ years of experience in individual tax preparation and tax advisory from a public accounting firm

  • CPA license or IRS Enrolled Agent (EA) designation preferred

  • Demonstrated experience preparing personal (individual) and small business tax returns (sole proprietors, partnerships, S-Corps, LLCs)

  • Strong client-facing experience with a proven ability to build and maintain client relationships

  • Understanding of life insurance and real estate investment as tax-efficient strategies

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills — able to clearly educate clients and lead advisory conversations with confidence

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple client engagements, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines

  • Experience with tax preparation software (e.g., UltraTax, Drake, or similar)

Skills & Competencies

  • Client-first mindset with a proactive, relationship-driven approach

  • Analytical thinker with strong attention to detail

  • Entrepreneurial spirit — motivated to grow a client portfolio and contribute to firm growth

  • Discretion and integrity when handling sensitive financial information

  • Performs well in a fast-paced environment, particularly during peak tax season
